Update on 2012 goals
One of my goals for the year was to blog once a week to keep myself accountable to my goals, so here I am. Add a check for the week beside that goal. :-)
Another goal was to eat more veggies and fruits and less refined carbs. While I haven’t kept a food journal in order to keep myself accountable to this goal, I have done it anyway (well, at least partially). I’ve had A LOT of spinach and other veggies this week and have drastically reduced my carb intake but I haven’t had any fruit. One would think this would be easy to do because fruit generally tastes better than veggies, at least to most people. For whatever reason, I still can’t seem to eat more fruit so, this is something I will continue to work on.
I get paid this Friday and my plan is to set up my savings account then and start working towards that goal of putting at least $50 per paycheck into it. Stay tuned on the fulfillment of this particular goal!
Another goal is to lose 10 pounds by March 1st. This is looking very likely, as I have already lost 5 since starting back on V3 (for more info on V3, go to http://ssikes.voyagerhealth.com). I think that I can accomplish this goal even quicker if I’d stick to the running goal I set for myself. I have fallen off the wagon HARD here and am willing to admit it. I have only ran twice since December 31st. PATHETIC. I have made excuses (rain, too cold out, don’t want to run with dog because he typically slows me down and I’m scared to run by myself in the dark, etc) but the truth of the matter is, the slacker in me resurfaced and I have to kick her ass. Hey, admittance is the first step to recovery, right? My mom has offered to let me keep her treadmill at my house so I hope to get this in my house this weekend! That should help with all those terrible excuses I have made dealing with the weather.
I’m signed up for a 10K in Columbia, SC, which I doubt I will attend (registration was free so nothing lost here). I found one in Charlotte on April 14th which is the one I will probably go with. As a matter of fact, when payday rolls around in a couple of days, I believe I will go ahead and register so that the motivation to train is there! Anyone want to join me? The more the merrier! Registration is $40 until March 6th. Here’s the link to the site: http://www.charlotteracefest.com
So, that’s the update on my goal keeping since I set them last week. I’m pretty happy with myself, with the exception of not doing so hot on the running goal. That goal is particularly important to keep so that I can fulfill a couple of the other goals. Guess I better get my butt in gear!
Took leftover spinach toppings used in last nights pizzas and mixed with eggs…voila! Spinach and artichoke quiche cups!
Unbelievable spinach and artichoke pizzas I made on pita bread…so freaking good y’all!
